Översatt: This magazine is like the “bible” for hard rock / metal in Greece for the last 30 years. Many people used to read it and still do. This column is called “Sub-Terra” and is about the underground in the more “progressive / 70s / doom rock” sound. The guy does not speak Swedish, so he might spell a couple of names wrong (like “Orebro” instead of “Örebro” J), but he is really deep into this kind of music. This is the translation, as close to the original as possible: " There have been quite a few albums from Transubstans gathered, let's take it from the start. Gudars Skymning have already reached their third album, "Hoj Era Glas". An up to now silent progress based in Sweden, even if their second album, "Morka Vatten", was released by the Italian label Bloodrock. Anyway. The quartet (they recorded the album as a trio) from northern Sweden is inevitable/ineluctable to excite the audience of Abramis Brama, Magnolia, Half Man, but also those who are nostalgic of the early era of Grand Magus (their demos and first LP). And, of course, their influences are: Black Sabbath, Cream, Pretty Things, November and Mountain, the song "Never in my life" of whom they have also covered. Having said that, the band is composed as a wonderful blend of classic 70's hard rock with intense blues/folk elements and possibly underlying Swedish prog touches. An exceptional album, well-played, with intense peaks and climaxes, sung in Swedish, full of passion and power, an anthology of songs that will amaze even the demanding fans of this genre. Recommended undoubtedly. “ |
